If you decide that you need more than PrintMusic has to offer, you can always upgrade at a discount to a higher level program. What few things it can't do I've been able to download free or inexpensive utilities to fill that need, use templates from MakeMusic, or come up with work arounds (i.e. Like where you have two eighth notes on beat 1 and you also have an optional quarter note on beat one (if more than 1 person is playing the song or if your playing piano). It has many features that Songwriter doesn't that I find essential. How do you write in an alternate part (a division is what I think it's called). I do nothing but choral arranging and have found, for the most part, PrintMusic meets my needs. Since Songwriter is so new and PrintMusic has been around for a while, PrintMusic receives better support on this board. PrintMusic can do so many times more than Songwriter for only around $20 or so more. about the only thing Songwriter can do that PrintMusic can't is save to audio files and there are free utilities that one can get from the web that will do that. Even though you apparently are working with choral music, I would suggest making PrintMusic, rather than Songwriter, the minimal upgrade. Notepad is an excellent program for the price but still, you get what you pay for. See the sticky thread at the top of the page for more information on Notepad limitations.
